Holds 4 nicd or alkalies at a time, mix and match sizes. The manufacturer of this charger reaffirms in included instructions, but states that they have designed specifically to work with them.
Theres a switch on the side that changes its mode from nicd to alkaline. Microprocessor controlled alkaline and nicd compatible battery charger. I tested it and functions as advertised with alkaline aa AAA batteries. They were not originally designed for it.
I didn't test this with nicd batteries, don't use them.
